Kuala Lumpur is one of the more advanced cities we visited on the trip. It boasts (the now second) tallest building in the world, the Petronas Towers designed by Cesar Pelli.
Up on the sky bridge on the 41st floor
views from the sky bridge
(joe took most of them as I didnt want to look down!)
The architecture of KL is interesting in its diversity
Most buildings, including the Petronas Towers, are Islamic designs
While the buildings were not always spectacular, they made for very interesting skylines throughout the city
one of the "projects" buildings-- there were literally hundreds of these buildings- all of which seemedto hold at least a thousand apartments- it was a real eye opener
due to my parents vast collection of pewter objects- i was excited to find that KL had a huge pewter industry and was home to Royal Selango Pewter, major world pewter smithing company-- so we took a tour (here is us at a model of the petronas towers made out of beer steins)
joe posing with the trophy for the next formula 1 racing champion
worlds largest pewter beer mug (literally)
our pewter smith apprenticeship where we learned to craft pewter bowls- very fun and loud!!
