Melaka is an old colonial seaport town. It is filled with a lot of old interesting buildings and has a very strong Chinese community as they also settled in the town.
This boat is part of the maritime museum. It was reconstructed to look like a spanish trading ship.
St. Pauls church was built in 1553- it passed through many hands over time and now lay in ruins.
Inside the church are the graves of noble dutchmen.
isnt this the picture we all want on our tombstone?!
a view of the colonial shops built around the sea shore
the town has a very beautiful center
an old chinese mansion
an intricately carved column inside a buddhist temple
a very cute restaurant inside an old chinese shop house
the "malaysian-chinese jo ann fabrics" ???
china town
shoes made from original bound feet patterns (so tiny!!!)
an iguana (someones pet) hanging out on a cannon

Trishaws (bicycle w/ side carriage) were the traditional means of transportation-- but as modern day has come the drivers compete for tourist business by trying to make their ride the flashiest, tackiest, craziest one around!!!
